Information for Schools
Jamie Oliver's Learn Your Fruit and Veg (LYFV) is a food education program that will build a better awareness of the foods children eat and the impact it has on their bodies. It is aimed at 3 - 12 year olds.
The program is owned by Jamie Oliver Enterprises Ltd and is delivered in Australia under licence by The Good Foundation.
Jamie Oliver's Learn Your Fruit and Veg (LYFV) program aims to inspire children across the country to engage in food education in a practical way. It is designed to teach children about food; what it is, where it comes from, and how it affects their bodies while equipping them with valuable skills for life.
The program provides a series of facilitator driven sessions and program materials designed to bring the beauty of fresh, local, seasonal food to life, inspiring children to make better choices rather than just lecturing about health. The program is about guided learning to emphasise the joy of eating well and planting the seeds for positive eating habits that will last a lifetime.
The facilitators who deliver the session will be trained and accredited by The Good Foundation via our bespoke online learning management system. Recruited from right across the country, the facilitators will act as local advocates in their communities.
The facilitators do not require formal certifcate-based qualifcations. The accreditation provided by The Good Foundation, the standardised nature of the course content, and the program approach will ensure consistent delivery and a diverse workforce. A commitment to teaching and health promotion in a Jamie-style will be one of the key components of The Good Foundation qualification.
Curriculum and Program Content
Each session will focus on a nominated fruit or vegetable and will include Jamie Oliver developed recipes. Classes are centred on food knowledge, food preparation and positive nutrition and offer a series of lesson materials aimed at connecting children to seasonal produce. Facilitators will come equipped with all the resources, cooking equipment and ingredients required to conduct a session.
Where appropriate, each resource includes a recipe option that does not involve heat so that children can get cooking without needing a fully equipped kitchen on site at the school. Most resources also provide a heat recipe for those organisations with access to kitchen facilities.
Teachers or educators will be provided with resources that will deliver after-session learning opportunities. Tasks such as homework and interactive games will extend support and confidence in food preparation skills in the classroom. The additional resources can also be made available to parents and caregivers ensuring the learning can continue into the home where appropriate.
How it works:

- A minimum delivery of four sessions per class per season to ensure behaviour change outcomes which is a key learning outcome for our program
